8 Reasons to Love Sobriety

8 Reasons to Love Sobriety

Do you want to live a life free from addiction? Want an achievement that will make you feel proud and accomplished? The first step is the hardest, but it’s well worth it. If you’re ready to take on sobriety as your new challenge, here are 8 reasons why sobriety should be your next major accomplishment:

1.No more Hangovers!

Drinking alcohol can cause you to become dehydrated, and this could lead to headaches and nausea. You will feel much better, after just a night of not drinking, than if you would have drunk the night before. Also, no more fighting with your partner because you don’t remember what happened at the party!

2. Real relationships

Many people drink to escape from real life. It becomes a way to avoid difficult relationships, the workplace, or even family events. You don’t have to do that anymore! When you no longer need Alcohol to feel comfortable around others, you will find yourself building strong and healthy relationships with those around you.

3.No more loss of sanity

Drinking alcohol results in poor judgment. You can say or do things that you later regret because your inhibitions are lowered by the consumption of Alcohol. When having one drink is not an option, you will become more aware of yourself and the consequences of your actions.

4. A healthier life

Some drinkers have a few drinks to “unwind,” but it is the relaxation after having a drink that is unhealthy. Alcohol can cause high blood pressure, liver disease, stroke, cancer, and many other health problems. Drinking also increases your appetite, so you are more likely to put on weight. Drinking often results in poor food choices because of this increased appetite. Alcohol can also cause you to be tired and less motivated to exercise, which increases your chances of getting fat. Your liver will feel better if it doesn’t have to process Alcohol!

5. Happier You

When you no longer need Alcohol in your life, there is nothing to cloud your judgment or make you do things that are not in line with your moral compass. Drinking has been known to sometimes cause loss of inhibition which can lead you to do things that make you feel guilty later. This guilt adds to any stress that may already be weighing on your shoulders, so by quitting drinking, you will be happier and healthier!

6. You can be a better parent

People who drink Alcohol often behave in ways that they would not normally act, and this can cause problems for their children. Some people drive drunk or become aggressive with their children because of drinking. Your kids will also be happier! No more scary visits to the ER because Mommy fell down the stairs when she was tipsy.

7. More money

When you are drinking every night, you are spending a lot of money on Alcohol. This could be an expensive habit that is literally causing you to spend your life’s savings. Alcohol costs money, but the bigger expense may be due to lost work time because of hangovers or lack of motivation from drinking too much.

8. New Adventures!

After getting sober, you feel good you will want to be adventurous, and this could lead you to try lots of new things! Get out there and do something fun. If there was one thing that younger me hated, it had to spend money on drinks for everyone else at the bar.
